Inspections

The Building Code Act requires mandatory stages during construction where the building permit holder must notify the municipality of work completed. These notices are followed by mandatory inspections by the Township. The inspection sheet will be included in your permit package outlining the key stages of construction and their required inspection. The Township requires 24 hour notice when requesting an inspection.

To book an inspection, email the Township Building Department.

Septic Reinspection

The Township of North Dumfries is located within the Grand River Source Protection Area. This means the Township is subject to the source protection area's assessment report. The report identifies septic systems that are potential threats to municipal drinking water supplies if they are not functioning properly.

Once identified as a potential threat, the Building Code requires that the septic system be inspected within five years of the assessment report and every five years thereafter.

The Township has provided a number of resources to help understand what this means for those affected.
