Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Township of North Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services, public education, suppression services, and emergency preparedness. Other activities include:
- Vehicle collisions (Rural and Hwy 401)
- Medical response
- Fire safety education
- First aid training
- Smoke detector inspections
- Burn permits
The North Dumfries Volunteer Fire Department is staffed with a full-time fire chief, part-time deputy chief of operations, deputy chief of training, district chiefs, captains, trainers and firefighters. The department consists of 4 platoons shifts of 31 firefighters. All are volunteers and report to the Fire Chief. Each platoon consists of a Captain and 6-7 Firefighters. They manage five engines, two pumpers, rescue/command, 55 ft. aerial and a tanker. Engines respond to all first aid calls to enhance available personnel resources and treatment.
