Township Plan

Emergencies such as natural disasters (floods, tornadoes) or technological accidents (service disruptions, power outages) may happen in the Township. The Township of North Dumfries has prepared a plan which provides the public key personnel and staff across the Township and the Region to turn to in an emergency

Mandated by the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, the Township of North Dumfries must develop, implement, and maintain an emergency management program.

Key elements of the emergency management program include:

  • Designating a Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC)
  • Designating an Emergency Information Officer (EIO)
  • Designating employees  as the Community Emergency Management Program Committee (EMPC)
  • Designating employees as the Emergency Operations Centre Management Team (EOCMT)
  • Adopting an Emergency Management Program by By-law
  • Having a Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Adopting an Emergency Response  Plan by By-law
  • Designating Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) with appropriate communications  equipment
  • Identifying Critical Infrastructure
  • Annual training for the EOCMT
  • Annual Emergency Exercise for the EOCMT
