Located at 23 Challenger Avenue, this park was named by two Ayr residents in a Park Naming Contest.
In recognition of the Appleyard family of North Dumfries who lost two sons, Pte. William Byecroft Appleyard and Pte. Joseph Clarence Appleyard in World War 1. Their sacrifices deprived them of living full enriched lives in North Dumfries. This name is being submitted to act as a teaching moment at a place where children can happily interact with one another, while honouring the Appleyard family.
