Chief Administrative Officer

Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

The CAO is appointed by Council and is responsible for providing leadership and general management for the Corporation.

The major responsibilities of the CAO include:

  • Head of administration;
  • Works closely with the Mayor and members of Council to provide leadership to the Corporation and to ensure that the goals and objectives established by Council and the Township's Corporate Strategic Plan is achieved;
  • Ensures that members of Council receive the appropriate reports, analysis and information for decision-making;
  • Acts as a liaison between Council and Staff;
  • Oversees major Township projects, key initiatives and priorities;
  • Exercise general financial control of all departments and ensures Council receives updates on estimates of revenues and spending;
  • Ensures that Corporate policies, procedures, programs and services as approved by Township Council are implemented;
  • Coordinates the development of the Business Plans of each department;
  • Leads the Senior Management Team (SMT) in the co-ordination of services and programs, and, views the longer-term trends, issues and opportunities presenting themselves to the Corporation so as to better position the municipality for the future;
  • Liaising with Local Boards, Advisory Committees, Agencies, other Municipalities and the Provincial and Federal Governments.

  • Corporate Communications
  • Economic Development & Tourism
  • Legal Services
  • Human Resources
  • Real Estate
